Why I built YouSens

I am not a productivity guru. I am someone who kept starting over, and got tired of losing everything each time I did.

Andrew Bondarev, Founder, YouSens

The three years I lost

Three years. That is how much tracked history one app deleted the month my subscription lapsed, and then it offered to sell it back to me. Three years of small mornings. The runs I did not want to do. The pages I read at midnight when it would have been easier to sleep.

I remember staring at the empty screen, angrier than I expected to be. Not at the app really. At the fact that the record of me showing up for myself was sitting on someone else’s server, with a price tag on it.

The proof that I had shown up for myself belonged to someone else.

The part I did not expect

Here is what surprised me when I looked back honestly. The habits that survived my worst months were almost never the ones I did purely for myself. They were the ones tied to another person. A workout I would quietly skip alone, I kept when a friend was waiting.

So I did not want to bolt charity onto the front of a habit app and call it motivation. That felt cheap, and the research I read agreed: mixing the motives at the start makes people finish less, not more. I wanted to offer the meaning quietly, after you already won something. Never as the entry fee.

Nine years, and I still miss

People hear nine years of daily practice and assume I am disciplined. I am not, particularly. I missed twice last week. What those years actually taught me is smaller and more useful than discipline: the day after a miss is the only day that decides anything, and most trackers are built to punish you at exactly that moment.

So I built the opposite. A miss is planned for. The streak does not get to erase your month because you were human on a Tuesday. The rule that carries you is quiet: try not to miss twice in a row.

What I will not compromise on

A few things are not up for debate. Your data is yours, and you can walk out with all of it in one tap, no negotiation. A slip is part of the plan, not a verdict on your character. And YouSens will never make its money by holding your own history hostage. That last one is personal. You know why.

So, the whole point

YouSens is not here to make you perfect. It is here to help you finish one honest thing, keep what you learn about yourself, and, if you choose, let that win quietly help someone else. That is it. That is the whole idea.
